Celebrate good times, come on! |
The back to school photos are flooding in from
every angle this week.
I LOVE seeing all of my friends children wearing
their brand new backpacks with nervous little looks on their faces while
awaiting the big yellow bus. I do,
I really do. This time of year more than
any other, really puts the word "Time" into
perspective and you really don't appreciate
or understand the lightening speed it travels until you are a
little older.
You blink and your babies are graduating.
As I type, the baby of our family has already
climbed the 3 oversize steps up onto the bus and has driven away
to his very first of many years at school.
Side note: I hope he treats his
teacher half as good as his Momma.
Today I needed to open my own door to the house,
I needed to carry my OWN grocery bag and even unbuckle my OWN seat belt.
So far, it has been a rough start and I have
realized how spoiled he has made
me.
I have been blessed to be able to be a
stay-at-home mom for 12 years. I wouldn't change a thing.
Not.A.Single.Thing. But, just as a teenager celebrates leaving
their high school behind after 12 years of work,
worry and cramming and they begin dreaming of
the endless opportunities ahead of them, this afternoon is
about me celebrating my graduation of surviving
12 years. I am broadcasting an inappropriate Pandora station that
has a random 'bad word' here and there (GASP!) throughout
the house sound system at a sound level that
would normally cause complaints from a little
one or two.
I can do whatever I choose to do. Yup, Whatever I want and I don't need
to get anyone a snack, drink or break up a fight.
I love my children and take my job as a mom
VERY seriously but I feel like they are ready.
I do my best to instill love, respect, humility,
work ethic and kindness in my children.
I have the utmost respect for every teacher at our school and I truly
believe that they have the
best interest for my children. They are ready to go and I am ready to
send them off.
I know, I know, that sounds harsh to some.
But, I have prepared them the best that I
possibly can for today. I see every day
as a new beginning
and every single day, I do my best to arm them
with the best advice that I have.
Being a mom means that you love these little
hearts more than your own, you do EVERYTHING you can to help them
grow and maneuver thorough this crazy World.
You are there to help them stand up when they fall and help them realize
what made them tumble so they become stronger.
I will be waiting with open arms when they
step off that bus this afternoon.
But in the mean time, I am loving my new found freedom and am
leaving you now to get back to my
12-year-in-the-waiting-free-time!
......even if that means I am spending that free time
scrubbing floors and cleaning the laundry room.
:)
Fine! Call me a sucker who gave into peer
pressure for fitting in!! I also
attached the typical 'back to school photos'
of 2 out of 3 kiddos.
Where's the third child? Let's just say, it was early and I didn't
have my cup of coffee so the camera sat on the table
instead of going to the bus
stop. No judging! I have 5 more years to get
that first day of school photo. ;-)
